ವಚನ ದಾಸೋಹ

*ವಚನ*

#ಪಚ್ಚೆಯ ನೆಲಗಟ್ಟು ಕನಕದ ತೋರಣ ವಜ್ರದ ಕಮ್ಬ

ಪವಳದ ಚಪ್ಪರವಿಕ್ಕಿ ಮದುವೆಯ ಮಾಡಿದರು.

ನಮ್ಮವರೆನ್ನ ಮದುವೆಯ ಮಾಡಿದರು.

ಕಂಕಣ ಕೈದಾರಗಟ್ಟಿ ಸ್ಥಿರಸೇಸೆಯನಿಟ್ಟು

ಚೆನ್ನಮಲ್ಲಿಕಾರ್ಜುನನೆಂಬ ಗಂಡಂಗೆನ್ನ ಮದುವೆಯ ಮಾಡಿದರು.

ಅರ್ಥ:

ಕಲ್ಯಾಣಕ್ಕೆ ಬಂದು, ಶರಣರ ಸತ್ಸಂಗದಲ್ಲಿ ಅವರು ತೋರಿದ ಆತ್ಮೀಯತೆ ಕಂಡು   ಅನುಭವಮಂಟಪದಲ್ಲಿ ಅಕ್ಕ ಮಹಾದೇವಿ ಹೇಳಿದ ವಚನ ಇದು. ಸೃಷ್ಟಿಕರ್ತನನ್ನೇ ಕೈ ಹಿಡಿಯಲಿರುವ ಅಕ್ಕನ ಅಸಾಮಾನ್ಯ ಮದುವೆಯ ಅದ್ಭುತ ಚಿತ್ರಣ ಇಲ್ಲಿದೆ. ನಮ್ಮವರೆಂದರೆ ಕಲ್ಯಾಣದ ಶರಣರು. ಅತ್ಯಂತ ಆತ್ಮೀಯವಾಗಿ ನಮ್ಮವರೆಂದು ಕರೆದಿದ್ದಾಳೆ. ಶರಣರ ಹೊಣೆಗಾರಿಕೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಅಕ್ಕ ತನ್ನನ್ನು ಚೆನ್ನಮಲ್ಲಿಕಾರ್ಜುನನಿಗೆ ಸಮರ್ಪಿಸಿಕೊಳ್ಳುವ ಚಿತ್ರಣ.

ಪಚ್ಚೆಯ ಹಸಿರು ಹರಳಿನಿಂದ ( emerald) ಸಮತಟ್ಟಾಗಿ ಮಾಡಿದ ನೆಲ, ಬಂಗಾರದ ತೋರಣದಿಂದ ಸಿಂಗರಿಸಿ , ವಜ್ರದ ಕಂಭ, ಹವಳದ ಚಪ್ಪರ ಹಾಕಿ ನಮ್ಮವರಾದ  ಶರಣರು ಶಿವನಿಗೆ ನನ್ನನ್ನು ಕೊಟ್ಟು ಮದುವೆ ಮಾಡಿದರು. 

 ಕೈಗೆ ಕಂಕಣದ ದಾರಕಟ್ಟಿ, ಅಕ್ಷತಾ ಕಾಳು ಇಟ್ಟು ಮೇಲೆ ಹಾಕಿ ಹರಿಸಿ ಆಶೀರ್ವದಿಸಿ

ಚೆನ್ನಮಲ್ಲಿಕಾರ್ಜುನನೆಂಬ ಗಂಡನಿಗೆ ನನ್ನನ್ನು ಕೊಟ್ಟು  ಮದುವೆಯ ಮಾಡಿದರು. ಮದುವೆಯ ಸುಂದರ ಚಿತ್ರ ಮನ ಸೆಳೆಯುತ್ತದೆ. 

ಅಕ್ಕಮಹಾದೇವಿ ಇದೇ ರೀತಿ ತನ್ನ ಹಲವಾರು ವಚನಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಅನುಭಾವಿಕ ನೆಲೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಯಾವ ಹಿಂಜರಿಕೆ ಇಲ್ಲದೆ ತನಗೆ  ತನ್ನ ಇಷ್ಟದೇವ ಮಲ್ಲಿಕಾರ್ಜುನನೊಡನೆ ಮದುವೆಯಾಗಿರುವ ಸಂಗತಿಯನ್ನು ಹೇಳಿಕೊಂಡಿದ್ದಾಳೆ. 'ಸಾವಿಲ್ಲದ ಕೆಡಿಲ್ಲದ, ರೂಹಿಲ್ಲದ ಚೆಲುವ’ ಚೆನ್ನಮಲ್ಲಿಕಾರ್ಜುನನೆಂಬ ಗಂಡನೊಡನೆ ಎಂದೋ ಮದುವೆಯಾಗಿದೆ. ಈ ಭವದ ಹಾದಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ತನ್ನ ಗಂಡನನ್ನು ಹುಡುಕಿಕೊಂಡು ಆತನಿರುವಲ್ಲಿಗೆ ಹೊರಟಿದ್ದಾಳೆ. ತಾನು ಅನಂತಕಾಲದಿಂದ ಒಲಿದ ಹಾಗೂ ಎಂದೋ ಮದುವೆಯಾದ ಗಂಡನನ್ನು ಹುಡುಕಿಕೊಂಡು ಹೊರಟ ರೀತಿಯೆ ಅಕ್ಕನ ಅನುಭಾವಿಕ ಅನ್ವೇಷಣೆಯ ಒಂದು ಪ್ರತೀಕವಾಗಿದೆ. 'ಇಹಕ್ಕೊಬ್ಬ ಗಂಡನೆ, ಪರಕ್ಕೊಬ್ಬ ಗಂಡನೆ?’  ಎಂಬ ಅವಳ ಪ್ರಶ್ನೆ ಈ ನಿಲುವಿಗೆ ಸಹಜವಾಗಿಯೇ ಇದೆ. ಈ ಲೋಕದ ಗಂಡರು ‘ಸಾವ ಕೆಡುವ’ ಗಂಡರಾಗಿ ಕಾಣುತ್ತಾರೆ. ಇದಕ್ಕೆ ಬದಲಾಗಿ ಆಕೆ ತನ್ನ  ಪತಿಯಾದ ‘ಸಾವಿಲ್ಲದ ಕೇಡಿಲ್ಲದ’ ಮಲ್ಲಿಕಾರ್ಜುನನಿಗಾಗಿ ಹಂಬಲಿಸುತ್ತಾಳೆ.

ಅಕ್ಕಮಹಾದೇವಿ ತನ್ನ ವ್ಯಕ್ತಿತ್ವ ಹಾಗೂ ಅನುಭಾವಿಕ ನಿಲುವುಗಳಿಂದ ಶರಣ ಸಮೂಹವನ್ನು ಬೆರಗುಗೊಳಿಸಿದವಳು. ತನ್ನ ವೈರಾಗ್ಯ ಮತ್ತು ವೈಚಾರಿಕತೆಯ ಪರಿಣತಿಯಿಂದ ಎಲ್ಲರಿಗಿಂತಲೂ ಚಿಕ್ಕವಳಾದ ಮಹಾದೇವಿ ‘ಅಕ್ಕ’ ಎಂದು ಕರೆಯಿಸಿಕೊಳ್ಳುವ ಗೌರವಕ್ಕೆ ಪಾತ್ರಳಾದವಳು. ತನ್ನ ಆಧ್ಯಾತ್ಮಿಕ ಸಂವಾದದಿಂದ ಶರಣರಿಂದ ವೀರ ವಿರಾಗಿಣಿ ಎಂಬ ಪ್ರಶಂಸೆಯನ್ನು ಗಳಿಸಿಕೊಂಡವಳು.

*Vachana translation:*

Emerald floor,  

Gold festoon hangings,  

Diamond pillars, 

Coral pandal,

On this they performed the wedding.

Our people performed my wedding.

Tying the thread - Kankana on hand, Showering holy grains (Akshata),

To the Husband named

Chennamallikarjuna - they performed my wedding !

Through Sharane Akka Mahadevi's vachanas we gain insights into her journey from her birthplace Uduthadi, to Kalyana and finally to the forests of Kadali in the Srisailam hills. She rejected local Jain king Bijjala's proposal and  chose spiritual enlightenment and union with God. She left for Shrishailam a popular pilgrimage centre of God Mallikarjuna .On the way she stayed for some days at Kalyan to meet Basavanna and other sharanas. She took  part in discussions at  Anubhavamantapa in Kalyana to discuss about philosophy and attainment of enlightenment or "Arivu". Akka (elder sister), which is a name given to her by Basavanna, Siddharama and Allamaprabhu though she was the youngest among them is an indication of her level of Sadhana and Vairagya.

 She is known to have considered the God Chenna Mallikarjuna (Shiva)as her husband.

Here she says all Sharanas in Kalyan as close family members (ನಮ್ಮವರು) got her married to the God Chennamallikarjuna and she describes the grandeur of the marriage.

Even when the king Koushika was at her feet to lead married life with her, Akka Mahadevi never shook off from her principled stand. She choose Mallikarjuna ruler of the entire universe and considered him as her husband.The marriage was full of eternal bliss in the words of Akkamahadevi.

Here she describes her marriage to the God Chennamallikarjuna and she describes the grandeur of the marriage.
