Sri Chakra

Sri Chakra:
*Sri Chakra*: part -1
Sri Chakra Yantra is actually a ‘Cosmogram’. It is a graphic representation of the processes of creation and dissolution of universe. Shri Yantra represents entire Cosmos. Hence it becomes an extremely significant tool to unlock the mysterious universe. This is the only Yantra which is given the title of Yantra Raj or King of Yantras.

Goddess Tripur-Sundari (Also called Raj Rajeswari or Lalitha) is the Goddess of this secret knowledge. A true sadhaka in shakti tradition of tantra can obtain infinite divine powers through this sadhna.

The diagram of the Sri Chakra is primarily a matrix  of nine interlocking triangles. Five of these triangles have their apex facing downwards. They are called Shakthi trikonas (Shakti triangles) representing five forms of Shakti or feminine energy. The other four triangles with their apex facing upwards are Shiva trikonas (Shiva triangles) representing the male aspect, Shiva (Consciousness). In Tantra, the feminine is the active principle and the male is the passive principle.  Five forms of Shakthi and four forms of Shiva unite to form Sri chakra. The intersection of these nine triangles creates forty-three triangles. A total of 43 triangles are created from the overlapping of the nine original triangles.  The point at the centre is considered as a triangle. Thus, in effect there are forty-four(44) triangles in Sri Chakra; and these are arranged in nine enclosures (nava avaranas), in groups of three.
Sandhi:
The intersection of two lines is called Sandhi or meeting points. and there are 24 such Sandhis. These intersections have certain significance. The meeting of these two lines represents union of Shiva and Shakthi.
Marmasthana:
The points where three lines meet are called Marmasthanas. There are 18 such Marmasthanas.
The meeting of three lines represents explicit harmony between Shiva and Shakthi; and these 18 Marmasthanas are present in the body as vital spots, where the life-energy resides as well as accumulates. Hence these Marmasthanas are called  Jivasthanas or seat of Life.
Bindu :
Bindu which is red in colour is the dimensionless point at the core of the Sri Chakra Yantra. Tantra texts explain that Bindu is Kameshwara, and the immediate triangle is Kameshwari or the mother of the universe.
The Bindu represents  three activities. They are
1.Creation of the cosmos from primal void.
2. Preservation of the created universe;
4.Dissolution of the Cosmos.

*Shri Chakra*: part 2
2. Preservation of the created universe;
4.Dissolution of the Cosmos.

The expanded form of the Bindu is the triangle formed by three points and is called Sarva-siddhi-prada ie the sphere of fulfilment, where  all aspirations are fulfilled. It is described as Prakriti ie. Vyakta or Manifested Creation composed of three Gunas - Sattva, Rajas and Tamas. These three gunas are the fundamental fabric of all existence.
Bindu in Creation:
Bindu represents the Para-Shakti in  (transcendental power)  and is called  "Sarv-Anandamayi" or All-Blissful. There is saamarasya or absolute harmony between Shiva and Shakthi. From Shakthi flashes forth the Creative impulse (creative urge) or Kundalini which manifests as Nada and the Iccha Shakti (power of Will), Jnana Shakthi (the power of Knowledge) and Kriya Shakti (power of Action).
Owing to the power of the Icchha Shakthi or will power of Bindu, Bindu vikasana or expansion takes place and triangle appears. This triangle is known as Kamakala or Triangle of 3 Bindus having three potentials. The three angles are Bindu and Nada and Kala.
Kamakala in Srichakra :
At the very heart of the Bindu or centre of the Shri Yantra is that which caused it to emanate. Kamakala, consists of the three bindus or potentials. One is red, one is white and one is mixed in colour. The red bindu is ova, the white bindu is semen, and the mixed bindu is the union of Shiva-Shakti, the individual as potential Shri Chakra.
*Nada, Bindu and Kala*:
Many slokas and sthothras use these terms to describe Devi Lalitha Parameswari. Sri Lalitha Sahasrara nama sthothra extols Devi as the essence of Nada, Bindu, Kala.
Kala, Naada, and Bindu represent  the physical, subtle, and causal body.
*Om*:
In Om there is a Kala, Bindu, and Naad. The sound of Om is pranava. Pranava is the general name for various versions of mantra Om.
Nada Bindu 38th Upanishad  is the philosophy of the sound Om.
#Bindu:
Bindu is transcendental form of Parashakthi or Primordial Shakti. Parashakthi is the originater of Manas, Intellect, Mind and Ego.
Bindu also has many meanings.
Bindu means the dot/ the drop/ the sperm/ the starting point(of creation end point of dissolution). The sound of Om is the starting point of the cosmos. Cosmos begins out of Bindu and dissolves into Bindu.
#Kale :
"Kale" means Chaitanya (Awareness) and Jiva (Kshetrajna).
Kale during Sadhana
at higher levels when the Buddhi (Intellect) and Chitta ( Awareness) merge, Nada too merges or disappears and results in  "Nishkala or No kale (ನಿಷ್ಕಲ)" which is the very form of Supreme Reality or Absolute Brahman or ParaShiva!
#Nada:
Nada during Sadhana, Nada is the sound heard in the ear during deep meditation.
#Nada during creation :
From Parashakthi  emerged  four types of speech called " Para, Pasyanthi, Madhyama and Vaikhari". Sahasraranama sthothram discribes  Sri Lalitha Parameswari as
"Para prathyak chithi rupa pasyanthi para  devata madhyama Vaikhari rupa bhakta manasa hamsika"
meaning Devi is the embodiment of Para, Pasyanthi, Madhyama and Vaikhari these four types of speech and the swan of the hearts of her devotees. The combination of all the four sounds Para, Pasyanthi, Madhyama and Vaikhari is called "Nada".
Para, Pasyanti, Madhyama and Vaikhari are the various gradations of sound.
Four stages of sound :
Para finds manifestation  in Prana, Pasyanti  finds manifestation in the mind.
Madhyama finds manifestation in the Indriyas. Vaikhari finds manifestation in articulate expression.
Para:
The highest manifestation of sound-energy, the primal voice, the divine voice is Para. The Para voice becomes the root-ideas or germ-thoughts. It is the first manifestation of voice. In Para the sound remains in an undifferentiated form.
Pashyanti :
Pasyanti state of a word  has colour and form, and it has the vibrating homogeneity of sound which is  common for all languages. All humans of all languages experience the same Bhavana or feelings of a thing in the Pasyanti state of sound.eg. Gesture is a sort of mute subtle language common for all persons. Any individual of any country will make the same gesture by holding his hand to his mouth in a particular manner, when he is thirsty. As one and the same power  working through the ears becomes hearing, through the eyes becomes seeing and so forth, the same Pasyanti assumes different forms of sound when materialised.
Madhyama:
Madhyama is the intermediate unexpressed state of sound. Its seat is in the heart.
Vaikhari:
Vaikhari or Articulation is the last and grossest expression of divine sound-energy.
The Shakti manifests through her Mayaic power first as Para Vani  then as Madhyama in the heart and then eventually as Vaikhari in the throat and mouth. This is the divine descent of Her voice. All the Vaikhari is Her voice only.
1 Para -  there is sankalpa or idea is generated.
2.  Pasyanthi - the idea is expressed
3. Madhyama - movements of jaws, teeth and other preparations start
4 .Vaikhari -  you start talking loudly.
*Sri Chakra and Nada Brahma*:
In Sri Chakra
Bindu represents the Para the first stage of sound,
The triangle represents the Pashyanti, the second stage of the sound.
The enclosure next to this, the eight sided figure (ashta kona chakra) represents the Madhyama or the third stage of sound.
The rest of the Chakra represents the physical  stage, the Vaikhari, which is the fourth stage of sound and is  manifest and articulate form of sound.
The Vaikhari form is represented by the fifty letters of the alphabet, called matrikas.
As per Nada Brahma these are the source of existence.

Sri chakra part -3
*A-Ka-Ta traingle(अ क त त्रिकोण)*
#Three_mandalas
The inner triangle consists of three mandalas.
Chandra mandal -
The sixteen vowels (from A) constitute the lunar sphere or Chandra mandala.
Surya mandal -
The twenty-four consonants (from Ka to Ta) constitute the solar sphere or Surya mandala.
Agni mandal -
Remaining ten consonants (from Ma to Ksha) constitute  the sphere of fire or  Agni mandala.
Thus, the triangle is also known as Tri-kuta,  and Tri-mandala.or A- Ka-Ta traingle.

#Three_corners
There are three corners in the inner  triangle called Suryabindu, Chandra Bindu and Vahini Bindu.
Surya Bindu:
 Northwest corner point
Consonant "Ta" ( त, ತ) at this corner.
Chandra Bindu:
North East corner point
Consonent  "Ka" ( क, ಕ)
Vahini Bindu:
Lower corner point
Vowel "A" ( अ , ಅ)

#Three_lines
There are three lines in the inner triangle known as Line of Rudri, Line of Vama, Line of Fire.
1. Line of Raudri:
Joins  Tha and A ( थ- अ)( ಥ - ಅ)
Goddess is Raudri. She unites with Iccha and Nada. She returns to where She sprouted from.  Also known as  Line of Sun or Line of Siva in other systems.
Consonants lined up in this line -

4. Inside the triangle three corners:
 Ha, La, Ksh (ह ,ल क्ष)(ಹ ಳ ಕ್ಷ )

These alphabets are visualised by yogis during meditation. The goddess who gave this  knowledge is called Vagdevi in sanskrit and Para-vac in Dravidian languages. The Sanskrit alphabet consists of 46 different letters. Tamil and Kannada both are also classic languages derived from common proto Dravidian language. Tamil alphabets consists of 30 different letters (12 vowels and 18 consonants ) and Kannada alphabets consists of 49 different letters (14 vowels and 35 consonants). These letters are organized based on their phonetic properties, such as articular surface, aspiration, and voicing. They are written and spoken in the same way.
*Sri Chakra Mantra*:
The fifteen lettered mantra is in three groups:
ka a e la hrim;
ha sa ka ha la hrim;
sa ka la hrim.  (shrim)

The sixteenth letter “srim” is present in a subtle form.
Shrim ( ಶ್ರೀಂ) :
The union of purusha and prakriti is the Sri Chakra. This is denoted by the secret syllable Shrim. It is this red  Shrim point, is the Sri Chakra. rest all is it's expansion and  manifestation which results in creation of entire universe.
The mother goddess worshipped in Sri Chakra is actually "The Universe".
The Sri chakra is actually the manifested universe.
Our body is manifested by the Sri chakra. and also it is manifested form of  the Sri Chakra.
The devotee has to understand and identify the Sri chakra principle in his body.  The guru guides devotee and Guru is considered as  representative of Shiva. Shiva is considered as Adiguru.

Sri_Chakra - part 4
*Sri Chakra is a Triad* :
Sri Chakra is basically a triad; and, is also related to number nine.

"Tridha Chaiva Navadha Chaiva Chakra-Samketakam Punah".

The triangle which is primary to the chakra has three angles and Devi Tripura Sundari resides there. Mother Goddess is worshiped in her three forms. Kundalini energy in the individual is threefold. The phenomenal processes arising out of the union of Shiva and Shakthi are three. Manifest powers called yogini are nine. The mantra in each of the nine enclosures of Sri Chakra is three lettered. There are  three dimensions of the Sri-Chakra corresponding to the three sections of the mantra and  each of these dimensions has a further division into three units. Each of these nine units are called as Chakras that are encased within Sri Chakra. As Sri chakra is a triad;  it is  has 9 triangles in two dimensions and  it is built in a 'pyramid shape' in three dimensions.
Trikoota or three peaks :
The three groups that constitute the mantra are called Koota (peaks). They are interpreted variously in sets of three as:
- Agni(fire), Surya(sun), Chandra(moon)
- Srishti (creation), Shtithi (preservation), Laya (dissolution)
- Iccha Shakti (will), Jnana Shakti (knowledge),  Kriya Shakti (action)
- Sattva, Rajas, Tamas
- Jagrat (wakefulness), Swapna (dream state), Sushupthi (deep sleep)
- Jnetra (the knower), Jnana (the knowledge), Jneya ( the known)
- Atma (individual self), Antaratma (inner being),  Paramatma (supreme self)
- Past, Present, Future.(Time or Kala)
The name of the goddess is Tripura Sundari and number three is important in reaching her. She is of the nature of the sun, the moon and the fire. She is masculine, feminine and neuter. Her form is red, white and the mixture of the two. Her mantra has three letters (Hrim, Klim, Sauh) and from this mantra three segments of time – past, present and future emerge. From this mantra too emerge three realms, three Vedas, three states of Existence (waking, dreaming and sleeping) and three gods Brahma, Vishnu and Rudra.

Sri Chakra in Creation and Shivayoga :
All the geometric designs are  arranged in nine enclosures known as   Nava-Avaranas containing nine Chakras.
Each of this chakra has its name, a characteristic physical form and a spiritual significance. Each has its own colour suggesting its tendencies. The nine chakras are interpreted in terms of Time (Kala), in terms of the five basic elements Earth, Water, Fire, Air, Ether (Pancha-Bhuthas); and in terms of three states of Jagrata (awareness-wakefulness), Sapna (dream) and Sushupthi (deep sleep).
Each Chakra has its presiding deity (Chakreshwari) and she is one  of the forms of Mother-goddess present at the Bindu.
#Sri_Chakra is verily the body of the mother goddess, who resides as energy in the universe and also as pure consciousness in the individual.

*Sri Chakra* - part 5
Sri Chakra and Kundalini Chakras:
All the geometric designs of Srichakra are arranged in nine enclosures known as  Nava-Avaranas.These nine avaranas corrospond to nine Chakras in Kundalini yoga. Both SriChakra and Kundalini yoga came from same source Shakti- Shaivism. The basis of  Yogic knowledge of our ancient Rushis is "Pinda Brahmaanda yoraikyam". It means what has manifested in the universe the same has manifested in the self. The seers understood the universe by their inner visions in in deep meditation. They understood that  both the human body (Pindaanda) and the Universe(Brahmaanda) are alike. "Sharira maadhym khalu dharma saadhanam"  means understand Parabrahma using your body as a medium.  Without the body one can not do yoga. There is no better instrument. This is how our ancient Rushis studied universe and created this yantra Sri yantra.  Sri chakra is manifested power of Shakti in the Universe and Kundalini is manifested power of Shakti inside the human body.
Each Chakra in Kundalini yoga and each avarana in Srichakra has its name,  a characteristic form , it's  colour, one basic element, it's mantra, it's deity to be worshipped and a yogini or expert who guide in the sadhana, dominent number which depends on number of petals of the lotus, the boon and a spiritual journey.  The colour suggests its tendencies. The nine avaranas are interpreted in terms of Time (Kala), in terms of the five basic elements Earth, Water, Fire, Air, Ether (Pancha-Bhuthas) and in terms of three states of Jagrata (awareness-wakefulness), Sapna (dream) and Sushupthi (deep sleep).
The presiding presiding deity is called Chakreshwari and she is one  of the forms of Mother-goddess present at the Bindu. Both Sri Chakra and Kundalini yoga have Bindu as the place where the Supreme resides.

Sri Chakra is verily the body of the mother goddess, who is in the form of energy in the universe and same energy is in the form of  pure consciousness Kundalini in the individual.
*Sri Chakra in Creation and Sadhana*:
*Sri chakra in Creation*:
Bindu is identified with Shiva and Trikona with Shakthi.
The evolution from the primary state of dot in the process of Creation is regarded as Pravatti marga or  Avarohanakrama (descent of grace)
*Sri chakra in Kundalini yoga*:
In contrast  the withdrawal from the gross to the very subtle state in deep meditation of Shivayoga is termed as  Nirvatti marga or Arohanakrama  (ascent of kundalini).
Here the devotee moves into higher spiritual levels till he reaches the Bindu. It is a gradual ascending process in yoga sadhana. The nine enclosures are  described in the order of absorption (Laya-krama) in "Dakshinamurthy tradition".
It starts with the outermost enclosure-Bhupura- and leads to Bindu, the central point  ie. outer to inner in Sadhana.
The outer group of chakras (1, 2 and 3) symbolizes extension of creation Shristi kriya.
The middle group (4, 5 and 6) symbolizes the preservation or Sthithi.
The inner group (7, 8 and the Bindu) symbolize absorption or Laya.
The Bindu represents the transcendental aspect of mother goddess.
The nine chakras are also interpreted as corresponding to parts in human body.
Chakras corresponding to part of our human body:
1. Bhupura
Bhupura also called Trilokya-mohana-chakra (Deluder of the Realms) , is the four-sided enclosing wall.
First line - Feet, Second line -Knees
Third line- Thighs,Triple girdle -Mid portion of the body
2. Shodasha-dala padma-  Kati (lower abdomen to below navel region )
3. Ashta-dala padma- Nabhi (Navel region)
4. Chaturdasha Trikona- Kukshi (Abdominal region
5.Bahir-dashar- Kantha (Neck)
6. Antar-dashar - Bhrumadhya (Region between eye brows)
7. Ashtakona - Lalata ( Forehead)
8. Trikona- Masthaka (Top of the head)
9. Bindu - Brahma Randra (Opening on the crown of the head leading to Sahasradala padma)
The  nine chakras are situated along the central channel or the Shushumna Nadi.
9Avaranas in Sri Chakra corrospond 9 Chakras in Kundalini yoga
1. Bhupura -  Muladhara chakra
2.Shodasha dala padma - Svadhistana
3.Ashta-dala padma - Manipura chakra
4. Chaturdasha trikona - Anahatha chakra
5. Bahir-dashar -  Vishuddha chakra

Sri Chakra avaranas and Sadhana :
 -  part 6
The Sri Chakra is an important device used in the worship of the primordial energy which is the cause for the creation, maintenance and destruction of the cosmos. The Shri Yantra represents the evolution of the multiverse as a result of the natural Divine Will of Supreme Paraa Shakti. Sri chakra is acclaimed as a great sadhana shastra.
The basic requirement for SriChakra sadhana is absolute belief in Para Shakti, devotion, unstinted faith, dedication, will power and mind purification. Mind purification involved is  controlling the six enemies of the mind, which are: Kaama (lust), Krodha(anger), Lobha(avarice) Mada(arrogance), Moha(fondness, infatuation) and Matsarya(jealousy).
A tantra design is always enclosed within an outer wall serving as a protective cover. As the devotee enters into the Mandala he leaves behind the normal worldly distractions and conflicts and emigrates into a "World of Symbols and Visualizations". A Mandala is thus a mansion of Devi, a symbol of a higher form of existence. Siddhis are the boons.
Four gates:
There are four gates to the fort Sri Yantra, if we take a two-dimensional view of it.
The Eastern gate is the way of the Mantras.
The Southern gate is the way of Bhakti (devotion)
The Western gate is the way of Kriya (rituals)
The Northern gate is the way of Jnana (wisdom).
In 3D form there are two more gates. The gate below the south is the path of Worlds. The gate above the north leads to  Liberation.

*Sri Chakra avaranas and Sadhana*
 - part 8
The inner group (7, 8 and the Bindu) symbolize absorption or Laya.
7. Eight-cornered figure(Ashtakona)
Seventh Avarana
Chakra - Sarva roga hara (the remover of all deceases)

Eight divinities presiding over speech reside. Between them they cover all the alphabets in Sanskrit grammar. These Shakthis also rule over contradictions in life (dwandwa) such as pleasure and pain; happiness and sorrow; loss and gain;  desire and aversion and the three gunas of Sattvas, Rajas and Tamas. The message here is rise above all dwandas. For it is only then that suffering will not be able to touch you and stable peace sets in.
The significance of this enclosure is its power to eradicate the involvement with mundane existence laden with stress. The blessed state is attained when the distinctions between the subject and object and the transactions between them are dissolved. All dwandhas or contradictions end in life making the aspirant Sthiti-prajna and Blessed.

They are red in colour. They are the weapons of both the Mother Goddess as Kameshwari and also of Shiva as Kameshwara.

8. Primary Triangle:
 Eighth avarana.
Form - The primary triangle has its apex downward (East) and coloured white (Sattva) surrounding the central point - Bindu. This triangle does not intersect with other triangles and it stands independent. It is KamaKala. It is feminine in its aspect and represents three fundamental manifestations of the Mother Goddess Kameshwari ( moon –creation); Vajreshwari (sun -preservation);  Bhagamalini (fire -dissolution)
Chakra - Sarva Siddhi prada chakra,  bestows all accomplishment.
The three angles of the triangle also represent three forms of speech- Pashyanthi, Madhyama and Vaikhari. The triangle is therefore the speech aspect Vak Bhava.
It also represents the three powers of Iccha (will), Jnana (knowledge) and  Kriya (activity). The three corners of the triangle stand for three peaks (kuta) of the fifteen-lettered mantra or as three dimensions of all existence. 9. Bindu:
The ninth enclosure is strictly not an enclosure. It is the central dimensionless point, the Bindu. Zero trikona.
Chakra - Sarvananda-maya chakra, (Supremely blissful one).
It is independent of the intersecting triangles.
It is coloured red. In a temple, this is the sanctum sanctorum, with all the other circles or enclosures representing various parts of the temple as you move inwards.
Bindu represents the Mother Goddess Tripura Sundari or Lalitha or Rajarajeshwari.  Everything else in the Srichakra is a manifestation of her aspects.

The goddess is nothing other than the devotee own self. The self here does not refer to jiva. The self here refers to individual consciousness which is beyond the body-mind complex. It is filled with all Bliss (sarvanandamaya). This constant, abundant bliss is the expression of the union of Shiva (Consciousness) and Shakthi (power of deliberation or Vimarsha). It is the very basis of existence. It is called beautiful (sundara), in this sense. It is in this sense the supreme mother goddess is called Tripurasundari.
The significance of this avarana is the complete harmony (samarasya) of principles of Pure-Consciousness (Shiva) and the principle of energy as Vimarsha-Shakthi. It signifies a state of Non-duality,  a state in which the devotee ultimately rests. Bliss, in Tantra, is resting in oneself or "Svarupa Pratishta".

The Shakti is Maha Tripura Sundari.
This avarana corresponds to Brahma-randra on the top of the head of the Mother Goddess.

*Sri Chakra*:  Part 9
SriChakra, also known as Sri Yantra, is a complex sacred geometry used for worship, devotion and meditation.
Shri Vidya arose as part of great Shakti tradition of Tantra which considers Shakti to be the Supreme object of Worship. The Goddess in the yantra is in the form geometric presentation. The Sri Yantra is worshipped in 2D form as well as 3D form. 3D is ideal for attracting cosmic energy and storing that energy and for Bahya pooja. 2D is ideal for Atah pooja.

Sri chakra is a yantra in Tantra shastra. A yantra means an instrument, a machine or a storehouse of power. Tantra means a technique. Tantra shastra means Engineering.  Sri yantra literally means, a machine of chakras which causes outer and inner engineering in us.
SriChakra is also an instrument to study the energy in the universe. Physicists and scientists have proved now that everything in the universe is a  pure imperishable energy. This energy is Divine Shakti which exists in every form of existence.
Devotee treats the Sri Yantra meditation as a pilgrimage. Sri Yantra meditation is a spiritual journey which enlightens our path of life. Enlightenment occurs when devotee traverses from the outer rectangle  towards the centre point Bindu. Bindu is believed to be middle point of the universe where Devi resides.
It is the point where sadhaka merges with the Absolute Consciousness.
*Sadhana Technique*:
The ancient saints did not want to divulge too much for the reasons best known to them. Their main concern was it's misuse. They were worried if it is tought to undeserving person he may use it for selfish and destructive purposes. A true sadhaka in shakti tradition of tantra can obtain infinite divine powers through its Tantric sadhna that is why such sadhnas are kept secret and hidden from general masses.
The Gandharva-Tantra which is a work of great authority, speaks of the three aspects of Kamakalã.
1. Sthula or Bahya  pooja
During installation of 3D Sri yantra, the Devi is felt or visualized in our heart and then drawn out through the breath and installed in the yantra. This is known as Prana pratishtana. She is then worshipped as actually residing there. The true home of Devi is however in devotee's heart. In Baahya pooja, the sadhaka or the aspirant worships the deity with a feeling that he and the Goddess are two different entities and also for  fulfilling a desire or kaamyasaadhana.
2. Sukshma or Antara or Subtle pooja
She is the Devi-Kundalini felt like a luminous flash of lightning extended from the Mülãdhãra through the Six centers to the Brahmarandhra. She is to be meditated upon as Ham (half of Hamsa or half of Shivo-Ham) in the lotus of a thousand petals. This Kamakalä is active or jagrat in all that is moving and motionless (sakala charaachara).
3.Mantratanu
In "Mantratanu" (Mantra body) she is "Trayimayi' ie. existing in everything. Mantra recitation is done in both types of pooja.
*Chakra meditation*:
The Sri Yantra is not just a beautiful geometric symbol, but also a tool to aid in meditation. The method used are Dharana or contemplation, Trataka or gazing and Dhyana or meditation with closed eyes.
Dharana: Concentrate on the avarana it's form, colour, number of the petals or angles of trikonas formed, alphabets on the petals or at angles along with recitation of the respective mantra.
Trataka:  Trataka is gazing as long as humanly possible at each avarana  and then close your eyes and meditating on the after image unfolding in your mind’s eye along mental recitation of the respective mantra.
1.Begin by bringing your awareness to the square that frames the image and notice how they point.
2. Focus your attention on the16 petels of the lotus and how they are positioned and their colour.
3.Focus your attention on the 8 petels of the lotus and how they are positioned and their colour.
Start taking in the circles within which the triangles are set.
4. Focus on the 14 trikona avarana
5. Focus on the outer 10 triangles avarana.
6. Focus on the inner 10 triangles avarana.
7. Focus on the Eight-cornered figure(Ashtakona).
8. Focus on the primary triangle surrounding the central dot.
9. Focus on the central dot Bindu.
10. Finally, gaze at the entire yantra and notice the different shapes and patterns within it.
11.You can then go in reverse back from the central dot to outer square.

Travelling from the outer periphery wall to the inner Bindu is an  ascent through various levels of consciousness and mystical significance, overcoming the many obstacles of previous conditioning, fears along the way. As the devotee proceeds inward from the outermost enclosure the devotee’s thoughts are gradually refined and the association of previously held ideas is gradually freed from the constraints of conventional reality. The devotee identifies himself with the Devi and goes through the worship guided by the symbolism. Whatever may be the details, the symbolism involved is important both in the external worship(Baahya pooja) and also in the internal worship(Atah- pooja).   Atah pooja is contemplation on the 9 avaranas of the SriChakra. The Atahpooja is sublime seeking identity with the Goddess.
Success depends on the depth of the contemplation and regular Sadhana. The sadhaka, who stays connected with Parashakthi, enters the state of Supreme Bliss, and in this state, the sadhaka attains the "State of Shiva".
Great sage Tiruvullavar says "Shiva can never be reached directly. The way is from Sakara to Nirakara (from form to formless) ie.from the manifest Shakti to the un-manifest ParaShiva. We should reach Parashiva through the Divine Mother just like a child reaches father through the mother. To enter the mount Meru you must awaken the sleeping Shakthi. She alone knows the path to enter and reach Shiva. The energy must be rarefied to a Laser light to enter the Golden Tip of the Mount Meru..
The sadhaka must realises that the present birth is a birth meant for realisation and merging with the Supreme. Inner Worship alone reveals the Truth of All worlds of the Siddhas.

May the Divine Mother guide us in our every action and thought,
and may She confer upon us the knowledge, prosperity, divinity and, moksha (liberation) by removing the veil of maya which She weaves.

At Her feet, OM tatsat .
